Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn is the first book in the Thrawn Trilogy and is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi. The story follows the New Republic, led by Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo, as they face a new threat: Grand Admiral Thrawn, a brilliant and calculating leader of the remnants of the Empire. Thrawn, known for his strategic genius and understanding of his enemies, seeks to restore the Empire to its former power using the remnants of the Imperial fleet and his tactical acumen.
